Building Trust with a SOC 2 Type 2 Report

Data security and transparency are becoming increasingly more important. As a result, companies like Glympse, which handle location data and tracking, need to be hyper-aware of their responsibility of staying up-to-date on security measures.

A SOC report is the gold standard for security compliance. So let’s dive into what it takes to become SOC 2 Type 2 compliant and what that means for building trust with clients and end customers.

What is SOC 2 Report?

SOC 2 is a report on the controls companies have in place defined by the AICPA. Controls are policies and procedures that make sure things are done the right way. The goal is to reduce the risk of intentional or unintentional issues with the functionality of the company.

There are two types of audits for the SOC report: Type 1 and Type 2. A Type 1 audit checks to see if you have the proper controls in place at that moment in time. A Type 2 audit, however, checks that the organization has the controls designed and performed correctly over an extended period of time, with an external auditor validating both. These controls need to be performed perfectly throughout the audit time.

The SOC 2 Type 2 report serves as a reliable way for partners, customers, and vendors to know that an organization has taken all necessary measures and put policies in place to protect data.

The world today is increasingly more digital. And with digital transformation comes a greater responsibility for companies to protect their customers’ data.

How a SOC 2 Type 2 Report Builds Trust

A SOC 2 Type 2 report focuses on the AICPA’s Trust Service Criteria. The five Trust Services Criteria principles are Security, Availability, Processing Integrity, Confidentiality, and Privacy. Glympse focuses on the security audit, which includes multiple controls. These controls are related to Cyber Security, Business Continuity, Change Management, Leadership oversight, HR policies, Risk Assessment, and Vendor Management.

Partnering with a company that has a SOC 2 Type 2 report adds a layer of trust. Companies we work with can feel at ease knowing we have laid the groundwork for current and future security practices. Additionally, having a SOC report under your belt can better set you up for success with future audits and certifications.

Glympse sees our SOC 2 Type 2 report as a commitment to our clients and their customers. Even as we continue to push the boundaries of controlled location sharing, we will never sacrifice safety and data security. The future success of location-based experiences depends on our ability to responsibly utilize data while maintaining procedures that rigorously protect our customers.

With Glympse being deployed on over 200K mobile worker devices and 30M consumer devices, our SOC report gives our users assurance that we are following best practices and are responsible custodians of their data.
